About The Position

The candidate for the in vivo pharmacology Scientist/Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist role will participate in the Gene Therapy in vivo pharmacology lab, executing experiments to support the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for genetic medicines. The role involves characterizing genetic medicines in rodent models and working with cross-functional partners to support translation from discovery to development. The position requires accurate and timely documentation of practical work in an electronic notebook in accordance with organizational procedures, quality standards, and Good Documentation Practices. The employee must also ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Occasional night, weekend, or holiday hours may be required as platform needs, workflows, and projects change.

  • Hands-on experience with rodent handling, dosing, and blood collection in mice and rats, including subcutaneous (SC), intravenous (IV), and intraperitoneal (IP) injections, and submandibular, venipuncture, and cardiac puncture bleeds.
  • Experience with gross necropsies, tissue dissection, trimming, and processing.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible as platform needs, workflows, and projects change, including availability for occasional night, weekend, or holiday hours.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functional boundaries and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with team leads to design and execute in vivo pharmacology experiments characterizing the activity, distribution, and clearance of genetic medicines in rodent models, including mice, rats, and immuno-compromised animals.
  • Assist in developing and characterizing novel in vivo models.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Preclinical, toxicology, and PK/PD modelling, to support translation from discovery to development.
  • Communicate work in writing and verbally through study reports and team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of practical work in an electronic notebook, following organizational procedures, quality standards, and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
