About The Position

GAP Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Biologist with a Master's Degree and two years of post-baccalaureate experience to join their team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Gaithersburg, MD. This full-time position involves executing formulation and stability studies, assay development, and preparing technical protocols and reports. The role requires a strong understanding of protein and vaccine structure, stability concepts, and analytical data interpretation. The biologist will also contribute to professional manuscripts and utilize various scientific software.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or foreign equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of post-baccalaureate experience as a Biologist, Scientist, or a substantially similar position.
  • Two (2) years of protein formulation experience.
  • Two (2) years of formulation and stability design assessment studies for protein nanoparticle-based vaccines for HIV antibodies, Malaria vaccine, and Influenza vaccine.
  • Two (2) years of study coordination and execution in one of the following areas: protein/vaccine formulation, protein/vaccine stability, or protein/vaccine pre-formulation.
  • Two (2) years of hands-on studies designing and executing formulation and stability assessments of ultra-high concentration antibody therapeutics for HIV antibodies and Influenza vaccine.
  • Two (2) years of data analysis experience.
  • Two (2) years of protein chemistry experience.
  • Experience with JMP, Origin, GRAMS, Prism, and SigmaPlot.

Responsibilities

  • Execute formulation and stability studies, including coordinating study tasks, interpreting analytical data using protein and vaccine structure, stability concepts, and elements of the effects of solution components on stability; generating samples; analyzing sample data; and presenting data to project teams.
  • Execute assay development studies for vaccine and biotherapeutic characterization under the guidance of senior personnel, including coordinating tasks; generating and analyzing samples; interpreting analytical data using protein and vaccine structure, stability concepts, and elements of the effects of solution components on stability; collating overall study data; and presenting study data to project teams.
  • Prepare technical protocols documenting formulation, stability, and method development studies in collaboration with senior personnel, including design based technical analytical experience and theoretical understanding of protein/vaccine structure and stability concepts.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting formulation, stability, and method development studies, which may include drafting, editing, and verification of data.
  • Contribute to professional manuscripts based on results of formulation, stability, and method development studies, as needed.
