About The Position

The Biologist I will be primarily responsible for the organization, preparation, and analysis of clinical samples. Proper documentation and lab notebooking are essential in this role. The role involves receiving, verifying, tracking, storing, transferring, and shipping specimens for clinical and preclinical studies. It also includes proposing and implementing process improvements, managing inventory of lab consumables and reagents, and managing freezer inventories. The Biologist I will perform aliquoting for sample management and testing, operate and maintain the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and use liquid handler automations. Maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment, recording data in Electronic Lab Notebooks, and analyzing data using Excel and other analytical techniques are also key responsibilities. The position requires compliance with client and company management systems, regulatory agencies, and Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or closely related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in laboratory environment
  • Professional, clear and concise communication required in written and verbal formats
  • Proven Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand job specific software
  • Ability to understand basic scientific terminology and communicate it to others
  • Team oriented and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Proven multi-tasker that thrives on juggling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Possess strong organizational skills with ability to quickly assess project status and communicate it effectively

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, verifying, tracking, storing, transferring, and shipping specimens for clinical and preclinical studies.
  • Proposing and implementing process improvements in processes such as sample tracking, shipping, study data processing and asset utilization.
  • Managing inventory of lab consumables and preparation of reagents.
  • Managing freezer inventories.
  • Performing aliquoting required for sample management and testing.
  • Operating and maintaining the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to register, sort, track and aliquot clinical and preclinical samples, ensuring accurate sample identification, chain-of-custody and data integrity throughout the sample life cycle.
  • Using liquid handler automations including Tecan, Hamilton and other robotic systems.
  • Maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment including centrifuges, pipettes and other specialized equipment necessary to support the laboratory.
  • Recording data in Electronic Lab Notebooks.
  • Analyzing data with familiarity to Excel and other analytical techniques.
  • Complying with clients and company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Following guidelines set forth by clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Complying with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Adhering to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
