About The Position

The scope of this requirement is to provide support services for new product development in CIDR. This support will be to perform laboratory experiments, maintain safe functional laboratories, analyze data, manage data spreadsheets, reference databases, assist in ordering supplies, record experiments in laboratory notebooks, and assist with project management. The scope of work will include support for the research and any activity needed to most efficiently advance lead candidate(s) to the next level of testing and ultimately FDA approval.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the care and management of the fish populations maintained within the aquatic research facility.
  • Perform biomedical research with aquatic organisms independently and with other team members.
  • Assist with the regular maintenance and operation of test systems for toxicological assessment.
  • Design, prepare, and execute research studies according to protocol for a variety of aquatic species.
  • Perform all aspects of fish husbandry including but not limited to fish euthanasia, fin clipping, microinjection, and advanced microscopy techniques.
  • Safely operate equipment for maintaining and modifying the aquatic systems for the laboratory animal populations and for research studies.
  • Assist with the monitoring, operation, and maintenance of the water production system (the water source) for the aquatic research facility.
  • Perform basic water quality analysis.
  • Operate and perform advanced zebrafish behavioral and toxicity testing including but not limited to the DanioVision/ EthoVision systems, Tecan digital dispensing systems, and other custom and semi-custom behavioral monitoring systems.
  • Independently perform compound formulation and dosing for aquatic toxicity testing and other research assays.
  • Be integral in developing and performing novel biomedical research using aquatic organisms primarily but not limited to zebrafish.
  • Properly maintain and analyze data, write research reports, and assist with research presentations and peer reviewed publications.
  • Maintain current training and health screening requirements as necessitated by the IACUC.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to applicable safety regulations.
