About The Position

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. This position is a full-time position located in Research Triangle Park, NC. Conduct analysis and interpretation on data from genomic platforms including expression, exon, tiling, promoter, and other array types. Conduct data analysis and interpretation on other large data types in a genomic context. Establish and maintain workflows including experimental design, data quality analysis, genome and meta-genome integration. Write utility scripts, macros, and custom programs or algorithms in support of biological discovery. Conduct analyses on NextGen sequencing data (e.g., ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, miRNA-Seq). Coordinate with biologists and bioinformaticians to design models that summarize and explain experimental data. Provide interpretive analyses of data from various experimental platforms to generate biological insights. Prepare reports and publication-quality graphics summarizing experimental results. Participate in meetings with scientific teams and present findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a biological/life science discipline.
  • A minimum of ONE (1) year of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or genomic data analysis.
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis, including RNA-Seq, single-cell RNA sequencing, and microarray analysis.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as R, Python, MATLAB, Java, and Unix/Linux environments.
  • Experience working with large datasets and performing statistical and computational analyses.
  • Knowledge of genomic workflows, pipeline development, and multi-omics analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a related biological or life science field.
  • Experience with methylation analysis, cluster analysis, and multi-omics data integration.
  • Experience preparing publication-quality research outputs and scientific visualizations
  • Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
