About The Position

Our client, a world leader in biotechnology and life sciences, is looking for a "Bioinformatics Scientist" in Tucson, AZ. This is a long-term contract position with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in NGS, scRNA-seq, multiomics, and bioinformatics data analysis and will collaborate closely with molecular biologists, computational scientists, and wet lab teams to develop, optimize, and maintain bioinformatics tools, algorithms, and analytical workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in DNA/RNA sequencing and bioinformatics data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience with 10x Genomics analysis workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R programming.
  • Experience developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines and analytical workflows.
  • Experience creating clear and insightful visualizations of complex biological data.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related discipline, with relevant industry experience.
  • Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related field with relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in clinical diagnostics, molecular diagnostics, biotechnology, or a related industry.
  • Experience with multiomics data analysis.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic assay development, validation, and production workflows.
  • Experience with distributed computing, high-performance computing, or cloud-based bioinformatics environments.
  • Proficiency in C++ or Java is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of molecular biologists, computational biologists, and wet lab scientists to design, optimize, and troubleshoot high-throughput sequencing and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) experiments.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and analytical tools supporting assay development and diagnostic data analysis.
  • Analyze and interpret DNA, RNA, germline, cell-free DNA, NGS, scRNA-seq, and multiomics data.
  • Support the complete assay development lifecycle, including initial sequencing, analytical validation, troubleshooting, and production implementation.
  • Partner with wet lab scientists to streamline bioinformatics workflows and improve assay development efficiency, data quality, and reproducibility.
  • Troubleshoot data quality, integrity, accessibility, and analytical issues across diagnostic and research workflows.
  • Develop scalable, reproducible, and well-documented algorithms, tools, and workflows.
  • Create clear visualizations and reports to communicate complex biological and computational findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
