About The Position

This internship focuses on developing and applying methodology to identify somatic mutations in sequenced human samples, specifically whole genome sequences from blood samples at 30X coverage. The intern will contribute to the support, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software systems. Tasks include creating custom software or installing purchased software, and producing documentation such as system requirements, designs, and plans. Work will be reviewed for quality, timeliness, and adequacy.

Requirements

  • Working towards a PhD in Computer Science or related Informatics field.
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with Unix environment.
  • Experience with tools for processing next-generation sequencing data.

Responsibilities

  • Support of moderately complex software-based systems.
  • Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of custom software, or the installation and maintenance of purchased software systems.
  • Produce documentation such as systems requirements, designs, and plans.
  • Develop and apply methodology to find somatic mutation in sequenced human samples.
  • Develop and apply a methodology to find somatic mutation in blood samples with sequenced whole genome at 30X coverage.
