The position contributes to chemical and biological research intended to address emerging threats and deliver modern solutions. In-person support is required. The position requires a relevant graduate degree and computational research lab experience, or a relevant bachelor’s degree with additional experience. The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field, with 3 years of experience in a computational research lab environment; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 5 years of experience in a computational research lab environment.
  • Strong coding experience and hands-on application of data science techniques to biological problems.
  • Ability to handle mass spectrometry data collected from high-resolution, triple quadrupole, and miniaturized mass spectrometer platforms.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R, and other programming languages commonly used in data analysis and machine learning.
  • Strong experience with Python, R, BASH, HPC cluster utilization, and workflow implementation.
  • Strong background in software development approaches such as agile, Git, and/or DevSecOps.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex statistical and data science outputs into clear technical conclusions.
  • Advanced communication skills for interacting with interdisciplinary teams, government representatives, and industry partners.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency in software packages for data analysis and visualization.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in computational biology or chemistry, bioinformatics, machine learning, physical sciences, or a related field, with 1 year of experience in a laboratory and/or computational environment.
