In your future role at the Madison site of the global front-runner in genetic sequencing, you will be one of a group of scientists who produce the fuel for Illumina’s sequencing, which is used in the study of genetic variation and function in realms from cancer research to agriculture. As part of a diverse, self-directed team, you will be responsible for completing the cGMP manufacturing of a wide variety of enzymes using-state-of-art processes and equipment, participating in team-based improvement projects, and be expected to participate in an inquisitive scientific environment. You will also work with other teams in a collaborative environment. Requirements

  • Demonstrate ability to quickly learn new techniques and skill
  • Excellent lab and organization skills.
  • Associate’s degree or B.S. degree in Biochemistry, molecular biology, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemical engineering, or related field.
  • Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of large-scale GMP manufacturing equipment and associated process equipment such as floor mixers, pressurized vessels, peristaltic pumps, autoclaves, and sterile filtration systems.
  • Prepared media and buffer solutions according to established SOPs and batch records.
  • Complete assays and measurements, including characterization, pH measurements, conductivity and impurity testing.
  • Contribute ideas for making improvements within the team.
  • At the direction of supervisor or subject matter experts, complete optimization and validation experiments.
  • Collaborate as part of a scientific team including active participation in team meetings and initiatives.
  • Perform inventory control of reagents, chemicals, and supplies using proper labeling and computerized systems.
  • Maintain general lab organization including supplies, equipment, and reagents.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds in weight and stand for periods of time during the manufacturing processes.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
