About The Position

The Bio-Medical Tech performs service and maintenance on clinical, life support, and life monitoring equipment used by medical and paramedical professionals. The equipment includes electronic, electrical, electromechanical, mechanical, optical, and electro-optical systems. The role repairs, installs, maintains, calibrates, and inspects medical and patient-care equipment; monitors vendor work; evaluates equipment and procedures; maintains accurate records; and supports staff with equipment-use education. The position follows applicable DNV and other standards and regulations and performs other duties as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
2–3 years of experience in a related field.

Nice To Haves

AAS degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or Engineering Technology, or other formal training or business experience.

Responsibilities

Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect patient-care, patient-handling, and other medical equipment.
Monitor completion of preventive maintenance and repair activities performed by outside vendors.
Evaluate preventive maintenance and repair actions for process improvements and make recommendations.
Evaluate new equipment and testing procedures.
Maintain timely and accurate records in the TMA work order system, including equipment additions and retirements, inspections, repairs, vendor activities, safety issues, and missing equipment.
Update the tech support database with documentation for new equipment.
Provide in-service education to staff on the safe and proper use of equipment.
Follow up on ECRI and/or equipment safety reports as required.
Attend and actively participate in monthly Clinical Engineering staff meetings.
Serve as a Clinical Engineering liaison to other departments as required.
Comply with DNV and other applicable standards and regulations.
Perform other duties as required.
