About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Biomedical Engineering Manager. The Biomedical Engineering Assistant Tech's primary job function is to assist in testing, repairing, and calibrating medical equipment per manufacturer or hospital recommendations using all safety precautions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
  • Enrolled in a Medical Electronics program or related field
  • BMVL required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC insurance carriers)
  • BLS Certification within 90 days required

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of related experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with scheduled clinical equipment and preventive maintenance inspections following the SOMC Planned Maintenance (PM) policy.
  • Assists with service calls/repairs in a timely manner.
  • Assists with clinical monitoring systems, nurse call systems, and other associated networks.
  • Demonstrates medical equipment repairs and reports incidents to the Biomedical Engineering Manager.
  • Assists with and supports clinical staff on the proper use of clinical equipment.
  • Supports department staff education.
  • Establishes work priorities ensuring efficient utilization of work time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
