About The Position

Plan and assist the Biomedical Technicians with urgent and routine maintenance, installation, training, and repair of medical equipment within the facility and outlying clinics owned and operated by Southeast Health, to insure that our patients receive quality and safe care by following policy and procedure of the Clinical Engineering Department, Southeast Health, state and local codes. Perform on-call task when assigned. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) required for Biomedical equipment assigned to Clinical Engineering. Assign and/or assist with work requestor(s) generated manually and/or by computer to be completed in a timely manner to assure patient satisfaction. Teach, encourage and promote positive behaviors in co-workers. Proficient in the operation and repair of life support equipment.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent.
At least (5) years’ experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician.
Associate Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent training.
At least five manufactures training schools on equipment at Southeast Health.
Proficiency of the operation and/or repair of life support equipment.
General computer knowledge.
Knowledge of state and local safety codes.
Work on-call, weekends, days or nights.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to utilize the Internet, extranet and email.
Ability to utilize radio and paging system.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance (PM) required for Biomedical equipment assigned to Clinical Engineering.
Assign and/or assist with work requestor(s) generated manually and/or by computer to be completed in a timely manner to assure patient satisfaction.
Teach, encourage and promote positive behaviors in co-workers.
Proficient in the operation and repair of life support equipment.
Assist with the daily operations of the Clinical Engineering Dept., keeping the Director of Clinical Engineering informed of the status and progress of any critical medical equipment that is out of service for repair.
Coordinate adjustments and calibrations on biomedical equipment in a timely manner.
Conduct and/or assist Biomedical Technician(s) with initial inspection of all diagnostic, therapeutic and clinical equipment purchased, leased, rented or loaned to Southeast Health following manufacturer standards, and referencing the manufacturer’s manual when necessary.
Conduct and/or assist with maintaining accurate preventive maintenance records on each piece of equipment for which the Clinical Engineering department is responsible.
Conduct and/or assist with troubleshooting, calibrations, and repairs on TVs, pneumatic tube system, nurse call on weekends and holidays to ensure minimal inconvenience to patients, visitors and hospital personnel.
Conduct repair and/or replacement of Surgical/Biomedical electrical switches, fuses, receptacles, and lights in order to maintain continuity of service and achieve high productivity.
Conduct and/or assist with installation, maintenance and/or repair of the facilities communication equipment for patients, visitors, and hospital personnel following manufacturers’ specifications and standards, hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and local safety codes.
Coordinate with Director of Clinical Engineering to assure that adequate inventory of parts for routine maintenance and emergency repairs of biomedical equipment, using manufacturer’s service manual as a reference and assist in reducing operating cost.
Conduct and/or assist with work requestor orders generated manually and/or by computer to be completed in a timely manner to ensure patient satisfaction.
Rotate on-call with Biomedical Technicians.
