About The Position

Under general direction, perform preventive and corrective electronic maintenance on a variety of complex, medical, dental, laboratory and other types of equipment such as motors, pumps, valves, television sets, recorders, cameras and video tape machines. This is a journey level class. The incumbent performs a full range of tasks and work under direction within a framework of established procedures. At this level, incumbent work with only occasional instruction or assistance. Work is normally reviewed only on completion and for overall results.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Bio-Medical Equipment Technician training program or similar electrical training required.
• Minimum Two years of experience in the repair of major electronic equipment, powered infusion pumps and similar equipment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.
• Knowledge of electronic theory.
• Knowledge of biological, electrical and mechanical quantities including blood pressure, ECG, blood gas analyzers.
• Ability to test electronic equipment.
• Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Ability to keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to repair necessary reports and records.
