About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and precise 2nd Shift Digital Bindery & Finishing Equipment Operator with a heavy emphasis on guillotine paper cutter operation. In this role, you will handle the final, critical steps of our print production process during our afternoon/evening shift. You will set up, program, and operate a computerized programmatic guillotine cutter alongside a variety of small-format finishing equipment to deliver high-quality, accurately trimmed print products.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating a programmatic guillotine paper cutter in a commercial print or digital production environment.
  • Strong ability to read job tickets, understand print layouts, impose trim marks, and navigate digital finishing interfaces.
  • Proficient in math fractions, decimals, and using standard/metric rulers down to 1/32nd of an inch.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive movements safely.
  • High attention to detail, strict adherence to safety protocols, and a strong sense of urgency in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Reliability to consistently work the full 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and safely operate a computerized, programmatic guillotine paper cutter.
  • Calculate margins and trim marks accurately to execute precise cuts for digital and offset press sheets, ensuring zero spoilage of printed work.
  • Troubleshoot cutting issues (such as draw, bow, or rough edges) and perform basic maintenance like blade changes.
  • Operate auxiliary bindery equipment, including but not limited to: Paper folders and scoring/creasing machines, Booklet makers, stitchers, and collators, Coils, wire, and comb binding equipment, Laminators and UV coaters, Corner rounders and paper drills.
  • Review job tickets thoroughly to verify quantities, dimensions, layout specifications, and special finishing instructions.
  • Conduct regular quality checks throughout production runs to ensure registration, trim accuracy, and overall product integrity.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on finishing equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operator safety.
  • Pack, label, and stage finished goods for shipping or delivery according to company standards.
