The Bindery Operator 1 is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating a variety of auxiliary binding machines, which include equipment such as inkjet and mailing devices, case making & decorating equipment, folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding/gluing machines. This role may also involve operating automatic bindery machines with multiple functions and station capabilities, such as power paper cutters, collators, gatherers, folders, and speed binders, to process printed sheets into final products like books, catalogs, manuals, directories, and magazines. Key duties include inspecting equipment for safety, operating automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that perform various functions like vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, and covering, and making necessary adjustments to coordinate multiple workstations. The operator is also expected to direct the production crew and monitor quality, output, and productivity.
