About The Position

Progress Printing Company is seeking candidates to fill vacancies for a Bindery Machine Operator and an Offset Press Operator. Our Bindery finishing department operates Muller Martini perfect binders and saddle stitchers. Qualified Machine Operator candidates must possess proven mechanical skills, show a solid work history in a manufacturing environment, and show proficiency in math. Ideal candidates are responsible for the set-up, maintenance and operation of the binding machines. Must meet production and quality standards. Must possess the ability to interpret instructions from job tickets. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to direct a crew, mentor and teach perfect/saddle binder skills, and work as a team. Must possess a willingness to serve a cross-functional role throughout the production area as needed. Our offset press department includes heatset web presses, as well as sheetfed equipment. Candidates for the press operator positions are responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and operation of the press(s), including but not limited to make-ready, reviewing schedule and job tickets, preparing customer viewing, and viewing proofs. Candidates should have the ability to direct a crew, mentor and teach web press skills, and work as a team. Must possess a willingness to serve a cross-functional role throughout the production area as needed. For both vacancies - Candidate must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand for 8 - 12 hours, and have good vision (corrected or uncorrected) with the ability to distinguish colors. We are looking for high school graduates with good math skills. The person hired must be able to work overtime when needed and work permanently on a second or third shift. Three years of prior printing experience preferred. Mechanical skills are a must for both of these positions.
