SpaceX•Bastrop, TX

About The Position

SpaceX is seeking a BIM Specialist to lead the integration and coordination of Building Information Modeling across fast-paced, multidisciplinary facility and infrastructure projects. The role supports project objectives through effective model management and collaboration, serving as a key technical resource for project teams and promoting strong BIM practices throughout the project lifecycle. The BIM Specialist will coordinate in-house project elements and external design consultants, maintain a living model through construction and as-built delivery, and lead the transition of BIM workflows from third-party providers to in-house operations. The role also supports design, bidding, procurement, and on-site execution through construction documentation, quantity takeoffs, and visualizations. Occasional project travel of up to 15% may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience as a BIM specialist or modeler in a construction or engineering environment.
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs.
  • Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of professional BIM coordination experience, including multidisciplinary work on high-rise projects.
  • Experience modeling multiple disciplines, such as architecture, structural, and MEP.
  • Experience owning BIM coordination through construction administration on multiple large-scale projects and a solid understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Experience with aerospace, high-tech manufacturing, or mission-critical facilities projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and experience with Navisworks and related plugins; familiarity with Dynamo or similar scripting for automation.
  • Strong understanding of interdisciplinary coordination workflows, clash detection, and federated modeling on large-scale projects.
  • Expertise in architectural, engineering, or MEP-focused BIM workflows and the ability to drive project success through model coordination and communication.
  • BIM certification, such as Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design, Structure, or MEP, or the AGC BIM Certificate.
  • Knowledge of advanced BIM integrations, including reality capture such as laser scanning with Trimble or Leica, VR/AR visualizations, or cloud-based collaboration platforms such as Autodesk BIM 360/ACC.
  • Design experience in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis tools and integration of BIM data for structural engineering applications.
  • Experience with Siemens NX.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed 3D BIM models for architectural, structural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines using Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other industry-standard software.
  • Perform clash detection, model coordination, and constructability reviews to identify and resolve conflicts during design and construction.
  • Lead BIM coordination for multidisciplinary projects, integrating models and data from in-house teams and external design consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to establish and maintain BIM standards, protocols, and workflows.
  • Serve as the primary BIM resource for team members, internal customers, and external design consultants; address technical issues and optimize BIM processes.
  • Work with design and construction teams to maintain a living model through delivery of an as-built facility model.
  • Lead the transition of BIM workflows from third-party providers to in-house operations, including data migration, process documentation, and team training.
  • Generate construction documentation, quantity takeoffs, and visualizations to support project bidding, procurement, and on-site execution.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in BIM environments and recommend software, tools, or process improvements.
