About The Position

AECOM is seeking a BIM Specialist to join our Canada Region within the Transportation Business Line. This role is hybrid and based out of our Mississauga Aecom office or any of our Central Canadian offices. AECOM Canada is a Centre of Excellence for projects delivery in North America and is participating in numerous major projects in Canada, either as the Owner’s Engineer/Technical Advisor or as the Constructor's Engineer of Record during execution and implementation of the project. We are seeking to add a member to our digital team and take on a specialized role in the delivery of our major infrastructure projects across Canada. We are seeking to embrace our BIM team to spearhead our Building Information Modeling initiatives within complex infrastructure projects. At AECOM, the ideal candidate will be part of our AEC industry's future, demonstrating knowledge in BIM management, data management, software integrations, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital twins, while ensuring ISO 19650 compliance. This role is pivotal in driving our digital team transformation of our design, construction, and operational processes, enhancing collaboration, efficiency, and innovation across multidisciplinary teams. Digital AECOM exists within AECOM’s sphere of innovation, an expanding ecosystem of tools, systems, and processes — and a team of over 2,000 digital practitioners who understand the challenges facing the infrastructure industry, and our responsibility to respond in an impactful and enduring way. The role will present the opportunity to collaborate with our wider Canada Region Digital team primally in the Transportation Business line across Canada and with other business lines to advance and reenforce AECOM’s global digital strategies within the Canadian Region. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a positive attitude, is customer focused, a critical thinker with problem solver approach and ready to apply and sharing ideas utilizing principles and methods for AEC Design and Digital Consulting projects. This is a newly created role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline + 6 years of relevant experience or Technical Diploma + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including BIM Specialist in the AEC space.
  • 3+ years experience in BIM implementation and/or delivery on large-scale, multi-disciplinary P3 projects.
  • 3+ years experience working with multi discipline design projects with Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • 3+ years experience with Revit
  • Working knowledge of ISO 19650 standards suite and related BIM standards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Automated design using Power BI, Dynamo, Orkestra and Grasshopper.
  • Experience with CADD and GIS technologies
  • 3 years experience with Civil 3D
  • Integration (API Microservices).
  • Data Management.
  • Critical thinking to identify issues, present solutions and follow through to ensure completion.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implement comprehensive BIM strategies for (P3) projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and industry best practices.
  • BIM processes assigned project stages, from conceptual design to coordination and through to construction as well operational handover.
  • Facilitate the integration of BIM technologies with the project requirements throughout AI and digital twins to optimize outcomes and enable advanced predictive analytics and scenario planning.
  • Champion the use of the Metaverse for immersive stakeholder engagement, virtual collaboration, and enhanced project visualization.
  • Ensure robust data management practices, including the secure and efficient exchange of data across platforms and stakeholders, adhering to ISO 19650 standards.
  • Oversee API integrations between BIM software and other enterprise systems to streamline workflows and improve data consistency.
  • Acting as the intermediary between designers, partners, contractors, owner so that a project remain efficient and effective.
  • Engaging with teams by providing BIM subject matter expertise on Alternative Delivery Projects and Enterprise Critical Pursuits.
  • Working closely with all team members such as BIM leads, BIM specialist and BIM coordinators, who are participating in all aspects of producing project information.
  • Ensuring that BIM execution plans are produced, properly followed and maintained for each project.
  • Training or upskilling colleagues in specific software programs, especially Civil 3D.
  • Support the implementation of digital information plans and strategies.
