About The Position

The BIM Specialist ensures that multidiscipline construction technologies, including models, tools, and practices, are current and adhere to standards to meet construction needs. This role collaborates with project teams on the development of construction-site logistics models, coordinates and manages trade detailing and design deliverables, and liaises between design and construction teams. During the pursuit stage, the BIM Specialist works with the project team to review and recommend scopes where VDC tools and processes can be incorporated. They participate in scoping design deliverables and trade detailing requirements, and collaborate with design and trade partners to support project documentation development. Additionally, they work with the Manager, Integrated Construction Technology to review VDC/technology contract language and BIM execution plans, establish and set up the trade partner model coordination process (including shop and fabrication model review), and aggregate and maintain multidiscipline construction models while ensuring project modeling standards are met. The role also involves creating and coordinating the processing of RFIs with the project team and recognizing opportunities to leverage integrated construction technology on projects.

Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a buildings industry-related discipline (e.g., architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), civil, architectural.
5 to 7 years of construction-related experience including 2 to 3 years of Virtual Design and Construction-related experience.
Strong understanding of construction sequences.
Awareness of and some involvement in implementing construction technology.
Ability to provide project model management.
Knowledge of the building construction process and the various building components involved at each stage of construction.
Ability to ensure the quality of virtual design and construction models from design and trade partners.
Understanding of trade detailing and design workflows.
Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings and specifications and translate 2D drawings and specifications into a complete 3D/4D Building Information Model.
Intermediate knowledge in 3D modeling software and training and ability to create content in VDC software.
Ability to provide input into Building Information Model (BIM) execution plan.
Ability to read and understand the construction model and scope to create and apply a VDC schedule.
Ability to create and communicate markups to construction drawings.
