About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring customers have continual access to innovation. This role is for an Electrical BIM Designer with Telecommunication and Security experience who enjoys working on complex projects within a team environment. The successful candidate will be part of a highly creative and efficient MEP BIM team, tasked with designing challenging and complex projects with innovative solutions for Amazon-owned Data Center facilities. You will provide support to the Central Engineering Team through the preparation of Electrical, telecom, and Security BIM models, construction documents, and leveraging BIM data. You will influence Data Center design documents for various electrical systems, including one-lines, switchgear, UPS, panelboards, transformers, power, lighting, lighting control systems, grounding, fire alarm systems, short circuit and arc flash analysis, and cable tray/pathways for Ethernet and Fiber systems. You will produce, maintain, and publish permit Electrical Engineering drawing sets for the fleet of Data Centers. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
  • 3+ years of design/engineering of producing construction drawings for mission critical facilities.
  • 2+ years consistent Revit and AutoCAD experience

Responsibilities

  • Designing the electrical, Telecom, and Security systems of Data Centers, and utilizing Revit to create and maintain BIM models.
  • Working with support and guidance within a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks, including working with internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants.
  • Supporting the preparation and development of detailed Revit models of Electrical, Telecom, and Security building systems.
  • Developing and publishing construction documentation for Electrical/Telecom and Security building systems designs in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables.
  • Assisting with creating and maintaining BIM templates and enforcing BIM standards.
  • Reviewing consultants' Security and ICT models, ensuring Information Models meet AWS standards and follow the Exchange Information Requirements (EIR).
  • Working on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
  • Assisting the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers.
  • Recording and reporting of key metrics to management.
  • Offering creative, out-of-the-box solutions.
  • Collaborating across disciplines and teams to refine data center designs.
  • Creating detailed models, drawings, specifications, and prototypes.
  • Updating managers and leaders of changes to the building design.
  • Engaging in design discussions, reviewing feedback from peers and collaborators, and adjusting designs to ensure data center solutions meet the highest standards of efficiency and quality.
