About The Position

The Weitz Company is seeking a Billing Specialist to be located out of our Cedar Rapids, IA office. The Billing Specialist is responsible for billing, accounts receivable, reporting payroll, and entering equipment usage. The Billing Specialist reports to the Accounting Supervisor and may have line responsibilities to the project team.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma.
A minimum of five years commensurate experience or three years of construction accounting related experience.
Ability to establish priorities

Ability to effectively communicate and work with a variety of different personalities
Operates with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Discretion is often necessary in working with sensitive and confidential information.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to learn specific accounting software (Tungsten, JDE, etc.)
Advanced Excel skills are a must.

Responsibilities

Report hours for certain certified payroll job
Balance payroll hours to customer billings
Set up, monitor, and close out projects
Assist project team with cost information and reporting as needed
Research and collect past due receivables
Maintain accurate and complete contract files for each construction project
Prepare billings to clients
Identify discrepancies involving payables and receivables
Prepare journal entries as needed
Bill equipment, consumables, and hours as needed to projects
Other duties and projects as assigned
