About The Position

The Billing Specialist is responsible for billing Detention and Demurrage Charges accurately and timely as defined by DSV standard operating procedures and approved customer NRA. Requirements

  • 4 – 6 years or more of relevant work experience required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to communicate in a professional manner as the job will require day to day correspondence with many internal or external clients
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English and the local country language

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in understanding ocean freight carrier payables process preferred
  • Cargo wise billing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate incoming detention and demurrage invoices from Ocean carriers to ensure they are FMC compliant and are issued within the 30 days of receipt of invoices
  • Dispute any invalid invoices and see through the dispute process for recovery
  • Post valid invoices for demurrage and detention into SAP web cost for payment
  • Review Detention and Demurrage daily container reports to audit all containers being empty retuned to terminal
  • Calculate customer Demurrage and Detention per customer NRA for containers attracting these charges
  • Review all internal shipment data to ensure that timeline information is accurate and validated against carrier websites
  • For valid charges, prepare customer outgoing Detention and Demurrage invoices in compliance with internal DSV SOP, and customer NRAs
  • Notify the forwarder of demurrage and detention charges that are being billed to their customer on their files
  • Escalate to the manager missing demurrage and detention rates on the customer NRA
  • Escalate all non-recoverable detention and demurrage charges to the relevant branch and ocean manager
  • Review customer disputes raised and ensure completion of dispute process
  • Any other accounting and operational functions assigned by the manager
