About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Revenue Cycle Specialist to support billing operations at our Buena Vista detox and residential facility. This role works closely with the billing lead to ensure accurate billable creation, clean data entry, and accountability of our third-party billing partner. This position is critical to ensuring services are properly documented, billed, and paid without delays.

Requirements

• 2+ years of medical billing experience (behavioral health preferred)
• Strong understanding of detox/residential billing and authorizations
• Experience with EMRs (Kipu preferred) and third-party billing partners
• High attention to detail, especially with demographics and documentation
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and independently learn new processes, systems, and payer requirements as needed

Responsibilities

• Create and manage billables in Kipu EMR and Kipu RCM, including: Per diem (detox/residential) Professional services (therapy, psych evals, E/M)
• Ensure all services are: Documented, signed, and billing-ready Supported by clinical notes and medical necessity Meeting required program hours
• Validate patient demographics and insurance information entered by Admissions to prevent: Authorization issues Claim rejections or delays
• Transmit accurate billables to Kipu RCM for claim submission
• Oversee third-party billing activity: Monitor claim status, denials, and follow-up
• Audit EOBs/ERAs and reconcile payments
• Escalate issues (auths, coding, underpayments)
• Assist with P2M (pay-to-member) tracking and patient balance accuracy
• Collaborate with Admissions, UR, and Clinical teams to ensure documentation supports billing
