Billing Manager
About The Position
Billtrust is seeking a Billing Manager (internally titled Manager, Accounting) who will be responsible for leading the company’s global billing operations, overseeing a distributed billing team, and ensuring accurate, timely, and scalable invoicing in a fast-paced SaaS environment. This role is a people manager and operational leader, not a pure individual contributor. The Billing Manager will manage a global team of billing analysts across the U.S., Poland, and potentially additional international locations in the future, and will serve as the primary operational partner to Revenue Accounting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is comfortable challenging existing processes, driving change, and leveraging automation and emerging technologies (including AI-enabled tools) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the billing function.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in billing, accounting operations, or revenue-related roles within a technology or SaaS environment
- Proven experience managing global teams, including working across time zones and cultures (strongly preferred)
- Strong experience with subscription-based and usage-based billing models
- Hands-on experience with billing and ERP systems (e.g., BillingPlatform, Sage Intacct)
- Demonstrated ability to lead change, challenge existing processes, and drive operational improvements
- Curiosity and openness to automation and AI-enabled tools, with a willingness to experiment and modernize how billing work is performed
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with comfort making trade-offs in a fast-paced environment
- Clear, confident communicator who can partner effectively across Finance, Systems, and customer-facing teams
- Process-oriented mindset with a track record of improving workflows, reducing rework, and scaling operations
