About The Position

Valle Verde in Santa Barbara, CA, one of several HumanGood life plan communities recognized by U.S. News & World Report in their Best Senior Living Awards 2023-2024 is hiring a Billing Coordinator to support the Accounting and Finance responsibilities at Valle Verde on behalf of HumanGood. Through knowledge and ability to demonstrate experience managing private pay insurance processes.

Requirements

  • Understanding of and experience working with health insurance, like Medicare and secondary insurances
  • Strong working knowledge of Medicaid billing and compliance regulations
  • Ability to initiate or work independently with limited direction.
  • Computer literate with demonstrated knowledge of EHR, word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Computer skills and training, particularly with spreadsheet programs
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in customer service
  • Must be able to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 3 years experience working with health insurance, Medicare, and private pay billing and collections
  • Accounts Receivable experience handling complex billing and collection issues.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely private pay billing for all retirement community care levels.
  • Maintain accurate private pay census
  • All ancillary charge entry
  • Statement generation
  • Payment processing including automated withdrawal and lockbox processing
  • Monitoring and collections of receivables
  • Respond to all resident account queries
  • Prepare and maintain documentation/collection notes for monthly accounts receivable reviews.
  • Collect and record private pay payments and deposits as needed
  • Review Medicaid and SSI balances periodically to ensure compliance with state regulations
  • Set up and maintain resident trust accounts as required
  • Maintain documentation to support third party claims submission and collections in accordance with defined policies in support of corporate 3rd party billing specialist.
  • Identify, document, and communicate best practices and process improvement opportunities to manager.
  • Prepare documentation for approval of private pay refunds and bad debt write offs
  • Maintain ongoing metrics for manager, to provide continual self-assessment of performance and identification of process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide additional assistance and support as needed in the revenue cycle function.
