About The Position

The Biller supports Lakewood Health System’s financial integrity by completing billing processes accurately and efficiently. The role focuses on claims submission and follow-up, resolving billing discrepancies, and working with patients and insurance carriers to secure timely payments. This is a full-time, 80-hour (1.0 FTE) remote position with occasional in-office duties. Candidates must be located in Minnesota.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills for professional interaction with providers, payers, and patients.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and respond to regulatory changes.
• Must be located in Minnesota.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of medical billing and coding, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
• Familiarity with insurance policies and payer guidelines.
• Experience with EHR/EMR systems.
• Two years of experience in billing or equivalent claims processing experience.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer guidance.

Responsibilities

• Complete adjustments and appeals and follow up with insurance companies in a timely and accurate manner to keep claims current.
• Submit claims accurately, including processing secondary claims after receiving Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
• Investigate and resolve complex claims to secure timely payments from patients and insurance carriers.
• Process and address discrepancies related to insurance or coding issues.
• Maintain current billing work queues and manage adjustments, appeals, and claim follow-up to ensure timely resolution.
