About The Position

This role is part of the Engineering organization and collaborates closely with Services, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, IT, and other internal Wabtec teams to help execute the organization’s vision and strategy aligned with the Wabtec Transportation Services Philosophy. As a BOM Specialist, you will support strategies that enable efficient maintenance and repair operations for Wabtec’s railroad, mining, and OHV products. Working within a collaborative, cross-functional environment, you will help define and maintain Bills of Materials within Teamcenter, for both new and existing products. In this role, you will support locomotive, mining and OHV maintainability by enabling the creation and maintenance of accurate parts bulletins and catalogs used by field service teams. You will play a key role in ensuring data accuracy, governance, compliance, and operational readiness while supporting continuous improvement across service operations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical or business-related field, or minimum 5 years’ experience in renewal parts provisioning or a technical publishing environment.
  • Proficiency in BOM management concepts and related IT tools, with knowledge of Oracle ERP preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to manage large, complex datasets.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and locomotive lists, drilling down from top-level assemblies to individual components.
  • Experience with Parts Catalogs, Wabtec SBOM, and cross-functional collaboration with Materials, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Field Service.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and configuration management tools (e.g., Teamcenter).
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI skills for reporting, analysis, and data governance.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and technical documentation support.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and associated bills of material to identify serviceable parts.
  • Create and revise Bills of Materials in Teamcenter.
  • Provide direction to graphic artists for the creation of exploded views and illustrations as required.
  • Identify problems and seek clarification as required relating to serviceable parts in BOM.
  • Identify renewal parts that must be included in a parts catalog from an Engineering BOM.
  • Research to identify existing PBs used in a current requisition and to identify new PBs that must be created.
  • Revise Bills of Materials from loco list changes, ECR/ECN changes and supersedures.
  • Communicate with cross functional and global teams on status of current deliverables.
  • Research and respond to all feedbacks, e-mails and phone requests concerning parts catalog issues.
  • Verify quantities, format required and customer information (including name, road numbers and shipping instructions) are correct for delivery to end customer.
  • Perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
