About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a Bilingual Youth Care Specialist to make an impact in the lives of youth ages 10-17. This is a direct service delivery position where the specialist will supervise residents, provide quality care, ensure a safe and secure environment, and transport and accompany residents on outside activities. The role involves being a role model and encouraging residents' educational growth and everyday life skills. Flexible scheduling is required, including 2nd shift rotation or overnights with 10-hour shifts (12:00 PM – 10:00 PM) and 8-hour shifts (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM). A pay differential is offered for each shift.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with youth/troubled youth in an organized/structured setting preferred.
  • Dependability, discretion, and good judgement are essential.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with clients, co-workers and the general public.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics and needs.
  • Team player with co-workers and administrators.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified CPR/First Aid, crisis intervention within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supportive environment for youth.
  • Provide daily security and up-keep of facility.
  • Participate in the implementation and monitoring of client case plans.
  • Participate in various in-service training sessions.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist with supervision of residents during activities.
  • Effectively manages behavior and supervision of residents during activities.
  • Assign and supervise chores.
  • Prepare meals as needed.
  • Screen clients, conduct initial intakes and administer client satisfaction surveys.
  • Complete required initial paperwork for clients.
  • Oversee shelter clients self-administering all medication.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
