About The Position

Drives Workmobile to off-site locations and answers patron requests for information, assists patrons with circulation tasks, and library technology. Plans and conducts programs under the guidance of the Workforce Librarian.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One year of similar of related experience
  • Able to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and a good driving record
  • Able to drive personal vehicle, large RV style vehicle, or van to deliver programs and services.

  • Skill in using and troubleshooting a variety of computers and mobile electronic devices
  • Knowledge of print and online reference resources

  • Skill in using Innovative Interfaces, Inc.’s Sierra or other comparable automated library systems
  • Skill in customer relations including dealing with difficult patrons and volatile situations
  • Skill in Windows, MS Office Suite, and Canva
  • Able to operate various office equipment including copiers
  • Able to plan and conduct age-appropriate programming

  • Able to push a fully loaded book-cart weighing up to 200 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first point of contact for patrons. Assists patrons in using library materials, searching catalog, and refers the patron to the Workforce Librarian for assistance as needed. Helps identify additional workforce and development of library services and trainings working with the Workforce Librarian.
  • Assists patrons with using technology and digital resources, printers and library technology, and information resources including accessing databases and navigating online resources. Assists patrons with scheduling one-on-one technology and resource assistance appointments with the Workforce Librarian.
  • Assists patrons with circulation tasks including: self-checkout, checking in and out materials, requesting holds. Issues and updates library cards and collects money for fees. Processes holds, sorts and routes the materials to their proper location.
  • Assists the Workforce Librarian in developing and delivering informative workforce development opportunities in mostly rural service areas. Assists Community Relations and Marketing department with recruiting attendees and accessing library resources, to promote use of library resources and represent the library district to the community.
  • Safely drives large district vehicles (such as a workmobile that is up to 26’ long) and delivery vans to remote locations throughout service areas and through congested city traffic in sometimes adverse weather conditions to locations where patrons can access library services and materials. Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of district vehicles. May sometimes be required to drive a personal vehicle.
  • Informs librarians about gaps in the collection to maintain an appealing, current, and useful collection. Shelves library materials by loading carts with returned materials; placing materials on the appropriate shelf according to Dewey decimal number, author name, or title to return materials to library shelves. Restocks materials on vehicles. May also process new materials, weeding, and rerouting materials in collection.
  • Assists with providing website content; creates booklists, displays, bulletin boards, electronic documents, and other resources. Completes administrative duties and tasks. Attends departmental meetings. Participates in professional development opportunities. Assists the Events and Experiences Supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
