About The Position

The Bilingual Clinical Facilitator is responsible for facilitating support groups for individuals affected by cancer at the Cancer Support Community San Francisco Bay Area (CSC SFBA) main location in Walnut Creek, at another designated location, and/or on our virtual platform. All Clinical Facilitators are expected to represent CSC’s mission, core concepts, and philosophy. The role involves completing introductory training to become proficient in CSC's philosophy and model, including observing and co-facilitating various types of groups and meetings. Facilitators will attend weekly Clinical Team Meetings and monthly All Staff Meetings, model professionalism, take informal notes on group progress, and communicate regularly with administrative and clinical staff. They will utilize a payroll system for hours, manage a dedicated email and phone extension for participant and professional communications, and are responsible for finding substitute coverage for planned absences. The facilitator is expected to report for a 2-hour support group, with adjustments made for smaller attendance. Within the Cancer Support Community model, the facilitator assists group members in sharing experiences, exploring emotions, reducing distress, improving quality of life, and gaining knowledge to become more active in their treatment and recovery. The role does not involve presenting oneself as an expert in cancer or treatment, but rather helps community members reduce isolation, regain control, and find hope.
