About The Position

The purpose of this position is to have an individual who can provide social work and personal/mental health counseling services for students, primarily for our Spanish-speaking population of students. The School Adjustment Counselor meets with students to assist them with social, personal, and mental health needs, with the aim of helping each student develop their potential to the fullest.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, or other related field.
  • Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Education as a School Social Worker or School Adjustment Counselor.
  • Demonstrated subject matter competence, highly qualified, in the area of licensure.
  • Currency in counseling techniques.
  • Effective organization of caseload assignments.
  • Effective diagnostic skills.
  • Effective instruction in a standards-based classroom.
  • Promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity.
  • Effective use of technology.
  • Fulfillment of professional responsibilities.
  • Ability to deliver effective counseling to individuals and small groups.
  • Ability to differentiate counseling to meet student needs.
  • Ability to administer required student assessments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administrators.

  • Excellent listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • English/ Spanish speaking (fluent)
