About The Position

BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. In this role, you will determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager for operational matters and the Center Physician for medical issues, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and BioLife's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified as an LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure.
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate and manage donor reactions according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician's standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical/technical guidance, and donor safety/eligibility.
  • Support employee Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.
