About The Position

The Staff Pad has partnered with a mission-driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Pomona, CA that is committed to providing high-quality healthcare to underserved communities. We are seeking a compassionate, bilingual Outreach & Enrollment Specialist who is passionate about helping patients access the care and resources they need. Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting such as: Medical Assistant, Patient Services Representative (PSR), Medical Receptionist, Patient Access Representative, Referral Coordinator, Insurance Verification Specialist, Healthcare Enrollment or Eligibility Specialist
  • Experience working with an Electronic Health Record (NextGen preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • FQHC experience is a plus, but not required
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • A passion for helping patients navigate the healthcare system
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Experience verifying insurance or working with Medi-Cal, Medicare, or Covered California (preferred)
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and healthcare software systems
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
  • Reliable transportation for occasional community outreach activities

Responsibilities

  • Guide patients through registration, enrollment, and appointment scheduling
  • Assist patients with insurance applications, renewals, and eligibility verification
  • Conduct financial screenings and help patients qualify for discounted healthcare services
  • Educate patients on available programs, benefits, and community resources
  • Help remove barriers to care by coordinating transportation, interpretation services, and community referrals
  • Build strong relationships with patients while providing exceptional customer service
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation within the electronic medical record
  • Partner with clinical and administrative teams to improve patient engagement and continuity of care
  • Participate in community outreach events to educate and connect patients with healthcare services
  • Track outreach activities and support organizational quality initiatives
