About The Position

Counseling In Schools (CIS) is a community-based organization dedicated to promoting the emotional and social growth of children so they can thrive in school and succeed in life. CIS collaborates with local schools, shelters, and communities to support New York City's children academically, socially, and emotionally. The organization employs licensed mental health and youth development professionals who integrate into the community to provide programs that equip children, families, teachers, and administrators with tools to prevent and cope with challenges. CIS envisions a future where every child can flourish and reach their full potential.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Creative Arts Therapy, Social Worker, Mental Health Counseling or related Master’s Degree.
• Bilingual in Spanish.

Nice To Haves

• Preference for elementary, middle, or high school programs.
• Preference for specific boroughs to work in.
• Identification of languages spoken other than English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sessions and outreach in Spanish.
• Experience and familiarity with clinical documentation (records are both written and digital).
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization, time management and multi-tasking abilities.
• Self-starter, takes initiative, motivated.
• Works collaboratively in a team-based setting.
• Experience in school-based programs preferred.
• Experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation preferred.
