About The Position

FlexStaff is hiring a long-term temporary Medical Office Assistant, Chinese Bilingual Required, to join our client's team. Under the direction of the DTC Clinical Staff, the assistant will perform venipuncture and finger blood draws, including drawing, capping, and labeling of blood specimens, as well as performing EKGs. This is an on-site position located in Stillwell, with orientation in the Bronx. The pay rate is $35.00 per hour for a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a 1-hour lunch.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical technician training.
  • Vision screening training.
  • At least one (1) year of venipuncture experience, preferably with the elderly population.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Medical Assistant Certification (must be certified Phlebotomist).
  • EKG certification.
  • Must be bilingual Chinese speaking.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal/people skills.
  • Must embrace the role of a true “care-taker”.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to use all equipment as dictated by the position.
  • Must have the ability to concentrate on moderate details and adapt to frequent interruptions and changes.
  • Must have the ability to attend to tasks lasting from 10-90 minutes.
  • Must be self-directed with the ability to work with or without supervision.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to establish a good rapport with participants and peers is essential.
  • Must possess a pleasant telephone manner.
  • Must be able to work weekends if required.

Responsibilities

  • Fully stocks examination offices with all required medical supplies.
  • Performs EKGs according to policy/best practice and expected service standards while always adhering to participants’ rights.
  • Performs routine tests such as dipstick, blood finger stick glucose, and INR according to policy/best practice and expected service standards while always adhering to participants’ rights.
  • Provides services according to established safety procedures and infection control standards as per OSHA and Organization policy and procedure, with due regard for the health, safety, and well-being of the participant.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of any/all participant information.
  • Transports participants via wheelchair or accompanies ambulatory patients within the Pace Center to and from Diagnostic Treatment Center.
  • Transfers and offers assistance during transferring of participants into and out of wheelchairs, toilets, beds, and other equipment (e.g., Hoyer lift).
  • Assists participants requiring help with toileting and other ADL care.
  • Assists MD as requested, including translation and set up of equipment for examination and clean up when necessary.
  • Understands that they are responsible for seeking feedback, instruction, and/or additional education with regard to any/all aspects of their job responsibilities that are not clear.
  • Translates as needed.
  • Assists with customer issues and grievances in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner, including working with other departments to resolve the source of the problem(s).
  • Assists with the coordination of follow-up visits and transportation for participants coming into and departing from the medical practice.
  • Provides coverage for the Front Desk Area as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
