Bilingual Medical Assistant- Pediatric Urgent Care
About The Position
APG Urgent Care is looking for a Bilingual Medical Assistant to join their pediatric urgent care team in Riverhead, New York. This role is ideal for someone looking to advance their Medical Receptionist career in a fast-paced, team-focused pediatric urgent care environment. The Medical Assistant will be the first point of contact for families, responsible for creating a welcoming and efficient experience from check-in to check-out, supporting patient flow, and assisting providers and clinical staff. The position requires individuals who thrive in high-energy settings, stay organized under pressure, and have a genuine desire to help children and their families.
Requirements
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- EKG certification/experience required
- Phlebotomy experience required
- Strong clinical, multitasking, and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate, team-oriented, and patient-focused mindset
Nice To Haves
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Urgent care, emergency medicine, or pediatric experience strongly preferred
- Experience with EMR systems preferred (athenaOne experience a plus)
Responsibilities
- Room and prepare pediatric patients for urgent care visits
- Obtain vitals, medical histories, and perform clinical intake
- Assist providers with urgent care procedures and patient flow
- Perform phlebotomy EKGs, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection
- Support medication administration and clinical documentation
- Educate and reassure patients and families during visits
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and infection control standards
- Collaborate closely with providers, nurses, and front desk staff
- Help ensure an efficient, positive patient experience
