About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and evaluation of mechanical systems and components for buildings. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful implementation and operation of mechanical designs. Key responsibilities include conducting research, analyzing data, preparing technical documentation, and adhering to safety regulations. Success in this position requires a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills to manage engineering projects from conception through to completion.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering with a professional title (Ing./Eng.) in good standing with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • At least 5 years of experience in building mechanical systems engineering
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire detection and suppression systems, electrical distribution, and lighting systems
  • Knowledge of the Quebec Building Code, the National Fire Code of Canada, and the Quebec Electrical Code
  • Excellent bilingual communication skills in French and English, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong organizational skills
  • Class 5 driver's license and access to a personal vehicle

  • Hands-on experience in testing, repairing, and replacing mechanical equipment

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects, including overseeing the approved scope of work to ensure completion of all activities
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, size pipes and ducts, size expansion tanks, select mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, air handling units, pumps, etc.
  • Inspect and report on mechanical and electrical equipment in service, including analysis as part of building condition assessments and reserve fund studies
  • Prepare written technical reports, design sketches, drawing annotations, and technical specifications as required
  • Prepare cost estimates for repairs and replacements
  • Manage multiple projects of varying sizes and complexities with multiple deliverables
  • Participate in meetings necessary for project advancement
  • Maintain client relationships
  • Perform any other required tasks
