About The Position

The Foster Home Licensing Coordinator for La Jornada is responsible for licensing and retaining quality foster homes, ensuring licensed homes meet or exceed programmatic/contractual obligations. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social work or a comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
• At least two (2) years of work experience in direct service with youth and families (strongly preferred).
• Must have DCFS certification in Rule 402, CCA, CERAP, and CWELL, with certifications current and in good standing.
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish). Fluency in Spanish is required.
• Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/300,000 bodily liability coverage.
• 21 years of age, a valid state driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle, and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Actively supporting, representing, and extending the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Maintaining all Illinois DCFS Licensing certifications current and in good standing (Rule 402, CCA, CERAP, and CWELL).
• Supporting the development of potential foster parents in understanding the needs of youth entering foster care.
• Being responsible for the knowledge and implementation of all rules, regulations, and policies related to foster care.
• Completing face-to-face meetings with each potential family within the first two weeks to answer questions and assist in the licensing process.
• Assisting all potential foster families in providing required information and completing paperwork in a timely manner.
• Meeting with foster parents experiencing challenges in the licensing process to identify and assist in overcoming barriers.
• Developing a comprehensive home study for each potential family and submitting it for approval.
• Maintaining and updating all foster home records in appropriate systems.
• Providing ongoing training and support to licensed foster homes.
• Completing annual evaluations and recertification of all licensed foster homes.
• Supporting foster parents by providing information, education, meetings, support groups, and one-on-one discussions.
• Traveling to visit homes to ensure compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
• Participating in Continuous Quality Improvement activities on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Actively participating in the weekly supervision process.
• Remaining objective and professional in all areas of job function.
• Demonstrating tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
• Reporting incidents to state and supervisory agencies when appropriate.
• Coordinating foster parent training and ensuring registration and completion.
• Assisting in the completion of ORR licensing requirements.
