About The Position

NewRoot Learning Institute brings restorative justice to life in schools by supporting how adults show up with one another and with students, translating values like relationships, accountability, and belonging into daily practice. Through training, coaching, and whole-school approaches, their work has led to meaningful shifts in school culture, including reductions in suspensions and stronger, more connected communities. For nearly three decades, NewRoot has partnered with school communities across Chicagoland, supporting thousands of educators and reaching over 200,000 students each year. The Impact Coach works hand-in-hand with partners to support school and organizational cultures. The primary responsibility for the Impact Coach is to implement high-quality experiential professional learning workshops and on-the-ground coaching support for educators and staff working in and around schools. NewRoot’s services are often implemented in the context of a long-term partnership which includes customized site-embedded coaching and whole-school strategy and system-building support. As part of a highly collaborative team, the Impact Coach works with colleagues daily to deliver dynamic, relevant, and responsive services that help our partners thrive.

Requirements

  • Commitment to educational equity and restorative practices
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, with the capacity to deliver clear, engaging, and impactful communication in both spoken and written formats
  • 4+ years of work experience in Education, Social Work, or Youth Development
  • 3+ years of experience working in urban school settings
  • Strong relationship building skills with a diversity of stakeholders (youth and adults)
  • Extensive experience facilitating, training, and/or coaching adults individually and in groups
  • Engagement in a regular self-reflective practice that enhances sensitivity to and understanding of others across lines of difference, as well as, one’s ability to nurture an inclusive environment
  • Strong understanding of adult learning and the needs of school-based staff
  • Independent thinker and problem-solver, with strong ability to manage projects and time
  • The ability to travel regionally (approximately 75%) and nationally (approximately 5%) as needed
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable automobile, insurance and good driving record.
  • Proficiency in, or willingness to quickly learn, Google office (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Spaces and Google Calendar), Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), Canva

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field
  • Experience using Salesforce, or a similar relationship-based database system, to record and engage with data

Responsibilities

  • Support relationships with a group of NewRoot’s service partners in person and by phone/email
  • Facilitate timely completion of established deliverables with service partners
  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate NewRoot’s workshops in both English and Spanish, ensuring quality, and impact
  • Consult/coach school partners--both individuals and teams--to help them create holistic SEL support strategies and build capacity to enact them
  • Directly model NewRoot’s established practices and content with students
  • Track, monitor, and share progress toward partner deliverables and goals
  • Support the process of keeping NewRoot’s content resources current and relevant and translating materials into Spanish as needed
  • Apply a Continuous Improvement Model to the development of professional learning including the incorporation of partner feedback
  • Explore, identify, and support the development of virtual learning opportunities for partners in collaboration with other NewRoot team members
  • Participate in NewRoot’s internal development to build coaching and facilitation capacity
  • Actively cultivate new partners
  • Utilize coaching tracking tools to measure service delivery
  • Stay current with research and practices to enhance professional learning offerings
  • Preserve organization by keeping proprietary information confidential
  • Perform other duties as needed
