About The Position

The HR Generalist provides broad-based human resources support across the business, with a focus on employee relations, leave of absence and workers’ compensation administration, organizational design, and career path development. This role owns new hire orientation and onboarding, and partners closely with supervisors and managers on performance coaching, corrective action, and terminations to ensure fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations.
  • Working knowledge of leave of absence and workers’ compensation administration, including FMLA, ADA, and applicable state leave requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities at once.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; HRIS experience preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive employee situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employee relations, working directly with supervisors and managers to address concerns fairly, consistently, and with minimal risk to the business.
  • Track and administer employee leaves of absence (FMLA, personal, medical, and other leave types), ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state law and company policy.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims from initial report through resolution, coordinating with employees, supervisors, and carriers to support timely and safe return to work.
  • Partner with leadership on org design and career path development, helping shape roles and growth paths that support both employee development and business needs.
  • Own the new hire orientation and onboarding experience, ensuring new employees are welcomed, informed, and set up to succeed from day one.
  • Coach and support supervisors and managers through performance management conversations, including performance improvement plans and terminations, to ensure consistent, compliant handling.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures to keep them current and aligned with best practice.
  • Partner with recruiting to understand hiring needs and support the search for strong talent.
  • Support employee engagement and retention efforts, including culture initiatives and recognition programs.
