About The Position

The Home Visitor is responsible for providing quality services for pregnant women, infants, and families in Early Head Start Programs through home visits, socializations, and family advocacy according to Head Start Performance Standards and Agency philosophy. This position follows the school schedule (42 weeks annually with summer off). Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Must be comfortable going into the homes of clients.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Nice To Haves

  • Home Based CDA or coursework in Early Childhood Education or Family Services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidential and up-to-date records on each child and family according to program standards, including completing all intake paperwork, updating Emergency Releases, and maintaining a waiting list.
  • Work with families to obtain necessary health services and assistance for any health or nutritional need, collaborating with the EHS nurse as needed.
  • Be knowledgeable about educational and community resources and refer families, advocating with these resources on behalf of the family when necessary.
  • Work with each family to create a Transition Plan for each child.
  • For Home base children, complete ongoing developmental assessments with parents and together plan ways to individualize child development activities to support each child and family.
  • Utilize curriculum resources to offer monthly nutritional and dental information and regularly provide developmental opportunities using household materials for experiences with literacy, music, sensory, small and large motor development.
  • Provide information on prenatal needs to pregnant women enrolled in the program.
