Field Interviewers on the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) are responsible for frequently traveling to selected locations to recruit study participants and make in-person contact to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation. They perform proper administration of computer-assisted interviews, collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires. The role involves independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings, transmitting data as scheduled, and assuming full and legal responsibility for project-issued equipment and participant incentives. Interviewers must submit timely and accurate Time & Expense reports, virtually attend scheduled meetings, approach selected households without prior appointment, and work and drive after dark. They are also required to attend weekly scheduled calls with their Field Supervisor, adhere to a schedule for respondent contact times, provide availability for field observations, and maintain required system updates to project equipment and complete administrative tasks.
