About The Position

Join Children’s Friend as a Family Support Specialist and be part of a trusted, compassionate team that transforms communities one family at a time. As a Family Support Specialist, you’ll provide weekly, culturally competent, home-based services to families in the Healthy Families America program. From parenting education and developmental guidance to crisis intervention and community referrals, you’ll help create a nurturing, stable environment for families to thrive. You’ll be a crucial partner in strengthening parent-child relationships, supporting families in setting and achieving personal goals, delivering health, nutrition, and home management education, and linking clients to social services and educational/vocational resources. You will conduct weekly visits on your assigned families, usually in the family's home. You will maintain proper assessments and documentation of those visits to meet productivity requirements. This position does require you to have a flexible schedule to meet the needs of your assigned families, including availability to conduct home visits at 5:00 p.m. at least two evenings per week in order to accommodate working families.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bilingual language skills required
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Understanding of child development and cultural humility
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance
  • Comfort with both remote and in-person work environments
  • Reflective, organized, and committed to continuous learning

Responsibilities
