About The Position

Global Village Academy - Aurora is seeking a Bilingual Elementary Teacher (Spanish) for multiple positions. This role involves teaching a standards-based curriculum in various subjects to elementary students, utilizing developmentally appropriate practices, and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse student needs. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress, maintaining records, supervising paraprofessionals, and collaborating with diverse staff and parents. The position requires fluency in both English and Spanish for instruction and communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Education, Language, closely related field, or foreign equivalent degree
  • Two years' experience as a classroom teacher (K-12)
  • Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Teach appropriate grade level standards-based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Personal Development in English and Spanish.
  • Assign and grade class work and homework.
  • Utilize knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices including small group instruction to teach assigned courses.
  • Prepare materials for classrooms for class activities.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Observe students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
  • Administer, score, interpret and apply required screening instruments including Observation Survey.
  • Complete, maintain, and submit accurate records, forms and reports punctually, as required.
  • Supervise the work of the classroom paraprofessional, including daily planning and evaluation of students' needs and progress.
  • Work with a diverse student population and staff.
  • Follow school approved curricula.
  • Demonstrate familiarity and adherence to the School's Mission and Goals.
  • Attend and participate in required pre-service and staff development meetings.
  • Conduct required parent-teacher meetings.
  • Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
