About The Position

Savio House is seeking a Bilingual Community Based Family Therapist to provide clinical therapeutic support to Spanish-speaking families, aiming to keep at-risk children and adolescents in their homes and out of the system. The role involves utilizing evidence-based models, with comprehensive training and support provided. New graduates are welcome, and supervision towards professional licenses is offered.

Requirements

  • MSW or other Masters in related counseling, psychology or related field (Bachelors with extensive experience considered on a case by case basis)
  • DORA registration as licensed or candidate for LPC (LPCC), LCSW (SWC),LMFT (LMFTC), or NLC licensure
  • Be Flexible and self-motivated.
  • Be comfortable with community-based therapy and a non-traditional work schedule
  • Have a passion for engaging with the population the program you join is working with

Responsibilities

  • Engaging caregivers & other key participants in active, change-orientated treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to progress
  • Cultivating growth in the whole family unit to empower families to solve their own problems
  • Collaborating with families and allowing them to take the lead in setting treatment goals
  • Keeping youth in their homes, minimizing safety risks and further legal charges.
  • Engaging caregivers who are facing challenging and complex issues that are impacting their children’s well-being and safety
  • Focused on improving child safety and/or helping children heal from the impact of trauma.
  • Provide two generation trauma treatment with evidence-based practices
  • Help caregivers understand typical developmental challenges and expectations;
  • Increase caregivers’ ability to reflect on the meaning and feelings motivating a child’s behavior;
  • Supporting caregivers’ problem solving
  • Helping caregivers understand the psychodynamic relationship between parental feelings, history, and the caregiver response to the child.
  • Provide consultation to teachers in early care and education settings, as needed.
  • Have a strengths-based and trauma-informed perspective of adolescents who have committed sexual offenses and victims of sexual offenses
  • Have a passion for engaging youth ages 5-18 and their families who need to heal from past traumas
  • Working with adolescents and their family system who are struggling with problem behaviors
  • Meeting with the whole family 100% of the time and lead to healing through creating communication, safety, and hope within the family unit to overcome their problems
