About The Position

The Bilingual Communications and Media Relations Specialist serves as the district’s primary Spanish-language communications lead and liaison to Spanish-speaking students, families, staff, media, and community partners. This role develops, translates, and manages culturally responsive communications and channels, supports districtwide initiatives, and ensures equitable access to information while advancing strategic communication goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, Spanish, or related field
  • Five years of experience in communications, public relations, community engagement, family outreach, media relations, or related field.
  • Demonstrated fluency in speaking, reading, writing, and translating English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of effective communications, public relations, and community engagement
  • Experience working with multilingual communities and culturally diverse populations
  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital communications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and determine proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, digital communications, and audience engagement
  • Ability to present information publicly and serve as a spokesperson
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Maintain valid driver's license with a driving record that aligns with the district’s motor vehicle record requirement while employed.
  • Maintain Attend work on a prompt and regular basis
  • Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the district's spokesperson to Spanish-language media and represent the district through interviews, radio appearances, podcasts, and other public information
  • Serve as a bilingual presenter, interpreter, or facilitator for district events and district community meetings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, advocacy groups, business partners, and stakeholders serving multilingual communities to more widely distribute district messaging.
  • Assist in developing, translating, and distributing district communications in English and Spanish, including news releases, website content, and marketing materials, and provide Spanish-language messaging support to departments and initiatives.
  • Manage and grow Spanish-language communication channels, including social media and digital platforms, and monitor performance metrics to strengthen engagement and outreach effectiveness.
  • Partner with the Bilingual Family Liaison Supervisor to ensure district communications, campaigns, and initiatives are effectively shared through multilingual communication channels.
  • Provide Spanish-language communication support for districtwide ParentSquare communications and multilingual outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate district podcasts and other multimedia communication projects, including planning and promotion.
  • Maintain professional learning and growth through professional organizations, seminars, course work, and collaboration.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
