About The Position

This role is with a fast-growing startup focused on micro-mobility solutions, partnering with cities to build successful bike share, kayak, and lawn game programs. The company utilizes the Movatic software platform for easy rental of shared assets and management tools for operators. The position involves working as a mechanic and technician to ensure operations run smoothly and safely across various locations in Indianapolis, IN, and surrounding communities. The ideal candidate is passionate about bikes, enjoys travel, thrives outdoors, and is committed to safe recreation and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • A basic set of bike tools and hands-on repair experience
  • Ability to perform some repairs on-site and outdoors as needed
  • Ability to comfortably lift and transport multiple 50-pound bikes, depending on operational needs
  • Ability to use a smartphone and camera for communication via calls, text, and email
  • Self-motivated and able to stay accountable to goals and manage your own schedule
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to provide updates and context
  • Flexible and able to work with changing schedules and workloads
  • Detail-oriented, practical, and able to make sound decisions independently
  • Able to think critically about what operations may need to know about the system not just respond to direct requests
  • Comfortable serving as a professional, friendly public face while out in the field

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally, access to a mobile repair stand and indoor space to store and work on bikes
  • We’re not necessarily looking for a master mechanic with every tool but we do need someone who can deliver safe, high-quality, repeatable work and hold themselves to a high standard

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the assembly, quality control, and deployment of bicycles as they are built, tuned, and prepared for riders
  • Perform routine maintenance and on-demand repairs across the fleet
  • Rebalance the fleet to help ensure bikes are available where riders need them most
  • Maintain a strong sense of ownership over the fleet and the condition of each bike
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on bicycles
  • Assist with inventory
  • Possibly perform some kayak repairs
