About The Position

Macy's Distribution Center teams are key to our success in the modern retail landscape. They ensure that products arrive at our stores and customer doorsteps on time and in perfect condition. This involves planning, prepping, and packaging merchandise for efficient delivery. The Big Ticket Order Picker Operator is responsible for timely and accurate picking and putting away of Furniture and Bedding merchandise into bin locations using radio frequency (RF) equipment. This role utilizes equipment that raises up to 30 feet in the air and requires good time management, attention to detail, excellent awareness/caution, and communication. Performance is monitored against company and departmental KPIs, and proactive identification of improvement areas is encouraged.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School or GED
  • Understand and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret employment policies, instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals in English
  • Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Must pass all required training.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently handle all tasks related to material handling and stock movement (Pick, Move, Stage & Put Away)
  • Systemically and physically Pick and Put Away Furniture and Bedding by moving stock around various areas of the warehouse using RF technology and powered equipment.
  • Move product correctly with the use of an RF gun dealing with bin locations and SKUs.
  • Use an RF gun to pick product and scan the correct barcode when picking orders.
  • Stock items in correct locations and pick items from locations.
  • Safely operate an Order Picker while wearing Fall Protection.
  • Report all equipment failures, damages, and truck accidents as they occur.
  • Provide feedback to the safety committee on environmental issues affecting safe equipment operation.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures; communicate hazards and/or unsafe work conditions to supervisor.
  • General warehouse clean-up during shift operation and end of shift.
  • Repetitively maneuver and handle Furniture and Bedding up to 250 lbs.
  • Stage picked Furniture and Bedding in proper locations for loading.
  • Follow instructions on RF scanning equipment.
  • Accurately read and apply pick labels to Furniture and Bedding stock for outbound orders.
  • Examine Furniture and Bedding for quality and label errors, immediately report any damage or RF problems to supervisor.
  • Arrive to work, scheduled meetings and other job related functions on time and as scheduled.
  • Meet established goals and objectives.
  • Communicate suggestions for improvements and efficiencies to supervisor.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

  • Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi-monthly basis, depending upon factors including but not limited to the size of the facility and the number of colleagues on roll. Colleagues will be randomly selected for testing by a third party. Testing must be completed on the same workday the colleague is informed of selection for testing, absent extenuating circumstances. In all circumstances, testing must be completed within 24 hours of notification
