About The Position

The BI Developer builds and operates the enterprise dashboards, semantic models, and reporting assets that make Masco's POS and adjacent commercial data usable to the business. This role delivers to the standards and direction set by the BI Delivery Leader and consumes the governed data foundation built by the Data Engineering team. The BI Developer contributes across the full BI lifecycle, including requirements confirmation, semantic modeling, dashboard build, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field; equivalent professional experience considered.
  • Proven experience as a BI Developer, BI Analyst, or similar role, with demonstrated delivery of enterprise BI solutions.
  • Experience delivering end-to-end reporting solutions from requirements through production support.
  • Advanced hands-on expertise with Power BI, including Tabular models, DAX, and semantic modeling.
  • Strong understanding of the medallion architecture (bronze / silver / gold) and how BI consumes governed enterprise data.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and how it fits alongside Power BI in a modern enterprise BI platform.
  • Advanced SQL / T-SQL (queries, stored procedures, functions, DDL, DML) for data wrangling and reporting on large volumes of data.
  • Working knowledge of ETL/ELT patterns (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SSIS or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of the Azure data stack as it supports the BI layer.
  • Strong proficiency with data modeling, including ERDs, workflow diagrams, and dimensional (Kimball) modeling.
  • Working knowledge of data constructs including data types, normalization, data quality analysis, and efficient BI modeling.
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and access as they apply to enterprise BI and certified data sources.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Ambitious and self-motivated with strong attention to accuracy.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed. Operates with minimal oversight on complex, hands-on BI work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator.
  • Willingness to explore and understand new and modern BI and analytics tools to add value to the enterprise POS and POS-related analytics space.
  • Collaborative with Data Engineers, fellow BI Developers, and end users.
  • Continuous learner who stays current on modern BI and analytics practices.
  • Must Have Broadband Availability: Minimum 30 MBPS - Only connections from national service providers such as Jio, Tata, Airtel, or Hathway Fiber are acceptable. Local or unverified internet providers are not aligned with MHPI IT policy and should not be used for official work.
  • Home office setup (Mandatory): - working space to accommodate two monitors +1 laptop (necessary equipment will be provided + additional tools -role if any). - The candidate must have access to a quiet and dedicated home office environment that supports productive remote work.
  • IT Asset Arrangement: - All necessary equipment (based on role)- including One/two monitors, one laptop, and supporting accessories will be provided by the company. Candidates must ensure safe and secure setup and usage of these assets. This setup is non-negotiable and essential to ensure uninterrupted workflow, secure data handling, and effective collaboration. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail, consumer goods, or manufacturing analytics environments where POS, sell-in, inventory, and third-party retail data are core.
  • Understanding of retail metrics (turns, GMROI, margin, category performance).
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for data automation.
  • Familiarity with Databricks Unity Catalog, data lineage, and observability tools.
  • Familiarity with modern DataOps, BIOps, Agile, or Kanban delivery practices.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain enterprise dashboards and reports on Power BI using governed enterprise data.
  • Deliver end-to-end reporting solutions including requirements confirmation, data sourcing, cleansing, normalization, and reporting.
  • Develop, automate, and run user-friendly dashboards and reports.
  • Handle report operations, refresh, and defect resolution for the enterprise BI layer.
  • Build and improve Microsoft Tabular semantic models and metric definitions to support reporting requirements.
  • Implement enrichment metric calculations and segment classifications feeding the central dashboards.
  • Assist with logical and physical data modeling to support business initiatives, in partnership with Data Engineers.
  • Apply consistency and quality checks to metrics and semantic models before release.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity in dashboards and reports through disciplined testing and validation.
  • Monitor automated ETL and BI processes for success and failures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to resolve dashboard, model, and data delivery issues.
  • Provide general technical support and troubleshooting to BI end users.
  • Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery.
  • Partner with the Data Engineering team on shared pipelines, models, and metric definitions.
  • Partner with fellow BI Developers on modeling standards and metric definitions.
  • Provide training and support to end users on BI tools, dashboards, and reports.
  • Document dashboard purpose, metric definitions, data sources, and refresh dependencies as part of the definition of done.
  • Follow the documentation standards established by the BI Delivery Leader and Enterprise Data Architect.
  • Contribute dashboard and semantic model metadata to the enterprise catalog.
