About The Position

The BI Developer will design, develop, and implement business intelligence dashboards using efficient techniques, reusable code, and web services. This role involves actively participating in the implementation of documented reporting applications and improvement strategies. The developer will also be responsible for reporting problems to software vendors, providing documentation, and tracking issues to resolution. Proactive monitoring of the WebFOCUS server environment for issues, and addressing access and performance problems are key responsibilities. Analyzing reporting requirements, proposing effective solutions, and developing alternative solutions in consultation with the Manager and Information team are also part of the role. The developer will create logic charts, record formats, Metadata, and detailed technical programming specifications, coordinating with DBAs for database queries. Documentation in compliance with department standards, development of flexible and scalable self-service reporting applications, creation of data sources, and development of test cases and scripts are expected. Troubleshooting user technical problems, analyzing and resolving testing and production issues, enforcing coding standards, and reviewing business objectives with management are also included. Finally, the role involves preparing prototypes and assisting in user training.

Requirements

• B.S. or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• 5 years' experience with experience in a Reports Developer role.
• Five years' concurrent experience with FOCUS, WebFOCUS, Reporting Server (iWay/EDA), and SQL.
• Three years' concurrent experience with CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement business intelligence dashboards using efficient techniques, reusable code and web services as applicable.
• Actively participate with implementation of documented reporting applications and improvement strategies.
• Report problems to the software vendors, provide requested documentation, and track problems to resolution; develop and monitor procedures for the WebFOCUS server environment proactively for any issues and address access and performance issues.
• Analyze requested reporting requirements and propose effective and flexible solutions; develop alternative solutions, as appropriate, and review with the Manger and Information team.
• Develop logic charts, record formats, Metadata, and detailed technical programming specs; coordinate the creation or modification of database queries with the DBA's as required.
• Prepare documentation in compliance with department standards; use efficient programming and coding techniques to develop / maintain self-service reporting applications that are flexible and scalable; develop / create data sources to connect to the databases to retrieve required data efficiently; develop test cases and scripts, execute the test plans, and evaluate results.
• Troubleshoot user technical problems and ensures quick resolution with proper documentation; analyze and resolve testing issues and production problems as reported in the problem tracking system.
• Develop and enforce the coding standards and conventions; review business objectives and requirements with the Manager / business analysts; provide input on alternative solutions when appropriate.
• Prepare prototypes of screens and reports for common understanding and agreement; assist in training users of new and modified reporting applications.
